Located on the north shore of Lake Tahoe, Highlands is a subdivision that backs up to open space and the cross country trails at the Nordic Center.  The North Lake Tahoe High School is nearby. Many residents in this neighborhood are full-time and this neighborhood has many new homes.

Dollar Point was actually a track of land originally slated for an observatory because of its expansive views.
